OUR LEADERSHIP
Nineteen-thirteen was a pivotal year,; challenging yet promising. Twenty-two young, black, bold, educated, and visionary ladies stepped out in uncharted waters and took the road less travelled. As a result, the greatest Sisterhood on the planet was born! Twenty-nine years later, seven Deltas and three initiates wanted to to strengthen the bond of our Sisterhood and chartered Beta Eta Sigma, the prelude to what we have become today. — the Mobile Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated! Since then, 29 Presidents have kept the torch aflame.
We are ONE Delta! One Sorority! One Sisterhood!
Mathematically, the Delta Δ symbol means change, the change in movement. Under the banner of our National President, Soror Elsie Cooke-Holmes, "Moving Forward with Fortitude", as One Delta, Mobile Alumnae is "back in stride" moving ahead.
We are making a change in Sisterhood, the core of our being…
In Scholarship, our constant mastery of excellence in everything we do…
In Service, offering invaluable resources and opportunities to engage our community…
And in Social Action, ensuring that our voices are heard to secure equal political, educational, and economic rights for all Black people.
Thus, the purpose of the platform for this biennium is multifaceted, and it includes the following:
To strengthen the bond of our Sisterhood. We are ONE Delta!
To understand and clarify our chapter policies and procedures.
To focus on our Five National Programmatic Thrusts and continue to develop relevant programs that meet the needs of the community.
We are here at this appointed time, in this season serving One Delta, One Sisterhood! I am humbled and honored to serve as the 30th President of the Mobile Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. It should be incumbent upon us to continue the legacy of our 22 and 10. Let us begin this new sororal year, 2022-2024, by making positive changes in our sisterhood and in our community.
We are 350,00 Strong, 1,060 Chapters Working, 7 Regions Moving and 304 Mobile Alumnae members.
Sincerely,
Roxanne Hannon Odom, Ph.D., Chapter President
